Description Board game "DUNE: A Game of War and Diplomacy" DUNE05-UA
Dune—the very name suggests desolation. A sandy wasteland is the only landscape on most of the planet's surface, broken only by rocky ridges. Giant worms half a kilometer long live in the sand, attacking anyone who lingers there. Humanity clings to isolated pockets of life where precious water is available—but even these settlements suffer from terrifying Coriolis storms. And yet, this planet determines the fate of the entire galactic empire. After all, only on Dune can spices be harvested. Spices are the key to interstellar travel. They are also a medicinal drug that significantly prolongs life. Powerful forces have converged in the struggle for Dune. Imperial troops, noble families, and the nomadic Fremen natives fight for control of the planet. In this game, you will assume the role of one of the parties to the conflict: the Atreids, the Fremen, the Harkonnens, or the Empire. GAME OBJECTIVE: The objective of the game is to gain control of Dune by utilizing your faction's unique abilities: capture three strongholds by the end of turns 3, 4, or 5, or have the most stronghold and spice points by the end of turn 5. In this strategic board game, players can choose to be part of House Atreides, renowned for their commitment to justice and moderation, side with the cruel and merciless Harkonnens, join the greedy Imperium, or lead the rebellious Fremen. Each faction's goal is to capture the planet Dune. GAME PROCESS: The standoff lasts 5 rounds. Each round consists of seven phases. During the Sandstorm phase, players roll a die to determine the movement of the storm, which brings destruction to all within its vicinity. During the Spice Spawn phase, players reveal the corresponding log tile and place spices in the designated locations. Worms destroy spices and units. During the Draw phase, players use spices to pay for combat and trade cards. During the Respawn phase, fallen units can be revived. Next comes the Deployment phase, where units are deployed. During the Combat phase, players play the appropriate cards, competing for locations and strongholds. During the Spice Gathering phase, your units gain two spices if they are in locations with this resource. If you manage to capture three strongholds after the 3rd, 4th, or 5th round, you win. If no one has the required number of strongholds by the end of the fifth round, players score points for the objects they control and determine the winner.
