Description Board game "Sheriff of Nottingham 2nd edition" SN002U
The Best Bluffing Game A fun, social game related to the card game "Trust Me Not." This engaging bluffing game is arguably the best of its kind. Developed in 2014, the second edition features redesigned art and updated rules, along with new components: a sixth merchant, black market cards, and sheriff's deputies. It was developed by creators known for their work on "Roster 51" and "Mage Wars." The game was nominated for the 2014 Golden Geek Awards (Best Game of the Year, Best Party Game, Best Card Game, and Best Family Game), the 2015 Origins Awards, and the 2015 SXSW Gaming Awards. In 2015, "Sheriff of Nottingham" won the top prize at the Boardgames Australia Awards. The game currently ranks 19th among party games and 35th among the best family games in the world on BoardGameGeek. Outwit the Sheriff of Nottingham. The board game "Sheriff of Nottingham" takes place at the city gates, where the nasty, fat sheriff has taken up residence. Unfortunately, Robin Hood is far away, somewhere in the wilds of Sherwood Forest, and no one else can break the sheriff's horns. Therefore, the poor merchants will have to rely solely on their own resources. To smuggle goods into town, they will have to wriggle, cunningly bluff, and sometimes even pay a bribe to the damned bribe-taker. The more legal and contraband goods they manage to smuggle and the more gold they haggle for, the better their chances of winning the game. Allowed goods include apples, bread, cheese, and chicken, while forbidden goods include mead, pepper, silk, and crossbows. Believe It or Not: The game is divided into rounds, with one player acting as the sheriff in each round. At the beginning of the round, merchants select cards from the discard piles or from the log, then place one to five goods cards in their bags. Next, players meet with the sheriff. Each merchant announces the type and quantity of legal goods in their bag. The sheriff must decide whether to reveal the bag. To prevent the sheriff from opening the bag, players can offer the sheriff bribes—gold or goods cards—or bribe him with promises. If the sheriff believes and allows the merchant to enter, he displays the goods on his stall. If the sheriff decides to check the bag's contents, two outcomes are possible: the bag contains something other than what was declared: the goods are confiscated and the merchant pays the fine indicated on them; the bag contains what was declared: the sheriff pays the merchant a fine for each item. The game ends after all players have played sheriff twice. To determine the winner, players total their gold and add victory points for the goods on the counter, both legal and contraband. The player with the most victory points wins.
